The ICC World Cup 2019 semifinal India vs New Zealand is here. To be played tomorrow at Old Trafford, Manchester. New Zealand beat Australia by 10 runs and thus India came on the top list. It’s now India Vs New Zealand. New Zealand finished fourth on the table.
India has won the last series against New Zealand with much finesse and NZ was like pedestrian players. In 1992, The Pak team led by Imran Khan beat NZ in the semifinals. Till then the Martin Crowe led team had won all the league matches. Mark Greatbatch the aggressive batsman used to bat on the front foot to any bowlers of repute!
Still, NZ was knocked out of the tournament. Now, again the NZ Captain is another Martin not a Crowe as an opener. Not captain though. But, now Kane has a fight up to his sleeves.
The twin leggies ran into NZ batsmen during their last series on NZ soil. Indian Batsmen are in superb form. The great Hitman Rohit has five centuries this world cup. Kohli is booming.
The middle order is struggling. But Rahul also has given the top order very strong impetus. He has become the opening buddy and supports Rohit very strongly.
The fast bowlers are bowling at high speed. Bumrah is bowling Yorkers at wish which reminds us of the ‘Sultan of Swing’.
India and NZ
This ICC 2019 world cup the match between India and NZ was washed out due to rains. It’s a loss for both the teams. They are both having fresh ideas in their minds for tomorrow’s encounter. Or the statistics in the previous match would have helped if they had played on that day.
However, India looks a more formidable team whereas even though on paper NZ is a great team of fighters, still in today’s scenario because of the balanced bowling talent and the aggressive leadership of Virat Kohli and the batters some of them yet to fire means NZ has a bit o homework to do.
Virat Kohli is yet to blast a century here. Dhoni has to yet make his blade do the talking. Rishabh pant will be geared up as he needs to prove himself with maturity if He needs to be the front runner for the wicketkeeper blaster in the team. Post Dhoni he has his chances and role cut out.
Two solid wins after the defeat against England has put India in a better frame of mind. India’s confidence levels are high. The promotion of Hardik Pandya up the order has given a boost to the middle order. Mohammed Shami has been firing from all cylinders. If Chahal misses out due to injury, then Jadeja will fill his shoes.
Still, NZ has firepower. Trent Boult is going to be a big threat with the new ball. He has gotten Rohit LBW in the past. The top three of India is also a big challenge for NZ and their plans may be revolving around the same. Bumrah is the most revered ODI player and is very economical bowler this tournament.
If NZ would have any plans to win this tournament, then their strength is their bowlers. Tim Southies is a bit complacent here. The weather conditions tomorrow are forecast to be overcast, so NZ has a chance if they bowl first and strike early.
The top order demolished, then fifty percent of their job is done. The fiery pacer Lockie Ferguson will be there or tomorrow’s semifinal. Matt Henry and Mitchell Santner will play and chances are may torment Indian batsmen.
NZ has bad but important dependability on their Captain Kane Williamson. He scored 481 runs and Ross Taylor made around 261 runs. Rest all are struggling.
Toss is the Boss: yes, toss is played again as the initial decider and winning it will be crucial for either team.
The toss winner will go for batting first as there are overcast conditions. The chasing team may have a tough time. But, invariably if the team loses the toss, hen have to put up a spirited fight.
NZ started with win over Lanka with no loss. Then Bangladesh, SA, and the Windies. The rejuvenating of the team happened when they destroyed Afghanistan.
They were beaten badly by Pak and the English. This tormentation was brutal and then came the solace of beating the Aussies by 10 runs. The kangaroos fought valiantly but had to give in with a 10 runs defeat.
But, even though this performance has given a boost to NZ, still tomorrow’s game is altogether a deferent ball game. NZ has to think fresh and act fresh. They have to shed their excess bag gages.
However the odds are in India’s favor. NZ needs to be cautious but The Indian top order may give them nightmares! India is going to make it to the final, if NZ does not give caution to the winds and put up a fight!!
