Indian Cricket fans and the fans world over of the game eagerly await the tournament every year. Started in 2008, this tournament has caught everyone’s fancy. It has also given birth to similar kind of Cricket Leagues all over the old. Be it Australia, England, Pakistan, Bangladesh and what have you.

Every year the IPL cricket stars come up with new records.

This year’s IPL was no less for newly formed records. Let’s check some of the great stalwarts of the game and their great records. Highest sixes…yes, it immediately brings to our mind the strong and well built, giant of a Cricketer, you guessed it right…The mighty Chris Gayle!

MS Dhoni is the second record holder hitting 187 sixes.

He has hit a total of 300 Sixes in all editions, which itself is a huge record. The Orange cap went to the irrepressible David Warner (SRH). He was out of Australian team nursing a ban for a year.

Still, the stickily built Cricketer hammered 692 runs of his willow in twelve matches with one ton and eight fifties. Altogether He hit 57 boundaries and 21 Sixes. The same man has won the IPL once leading from the front and stated that He gave up beer for a year and thus could play all round shots and was very fast running between the wickets.

The CSK leggie bagged the highest wicket-taker record by getting 26 scalps in 17 matches. His camaraderie and a special way of celebrations after getting a wicket has caught every cricket enthusiasts’ imagination. He flies like a Bird and all over the stadium. Dhoni, his captain quipped that they all wait for his drama to end, then they go and wish him, congratulate him, in a light-hearted manner. Dhoni himself had is 100th win a Captain in IPL and is the first one to accomplish same.

RishabhPant, the new Dhoni designate of future Indian team hit a masterly fastest 50 in IPL this year from 18 balls.

The dot balls were also considered for the record this year. Who else? But, Deepak Chahar of CSK, the new fast bowler created this record. It was against KKR and 20 dot balls in an innings. He was unplayable at all. The new find has a great future in the Indian team!!

It was said Suresh Raina cannot play the rising delivery. He proved the cricket pundits wrong by amassing a whopping 5000 runs in IPL, which is great record he holds.

There was a Mankadding incident by R. Ashwin. The victim was Jose butler of RR. It stoked controversy, but died a natural death, after there were splits in opinions across the cricket greats.

The caught and bowled catches always catch the fancy of cricket lovers across the world. It’s to the bowler’s credit that he makes the batsman commit such a mistake and then runs across or in a swift second catches the beauty offered on a platter by the unsuspecting batsman.

None other the wily Harbhajan Singh, Bhajjias known among his friends bagged the record this year. Totally 11 caught and bowled catches!! Also, he has the record of most ducks in IPL.

The tournament, every year throws up the new record and has on the edge the cricket enthusiasts all over the world.

Now, the cricketing world and the fans are looking forward to the great ICC Cricket World Cup which is due on 30th May this year hosted by England. All fingers are crossed and most eagerly awaited!!
